Design Week 6: Developing the Permit Set
A final design has been chosen and full production is well underway as our deadline to have our permitting set complete quickly approaches. With 10 people, a lot is accomplished each and every day and things are looking great.
06/18/2019 - Day 16
The weekend gave us a few days to analyze the new design we came up with last Thursday and really let it sink in. Today was devoted to making final tweaks and solidifying our final design. It's exciting to have come to a consensus as a group and the improvements made over our last iteration made last week's sudden halt and reevaluation completely worth it. We now have a design that we are all excited about, ready to move forward on, and we can't wait to build it in a few months.
06/19/2019 & 06/20/2019 - Days 17 & 18
The remainder of this week was devoted to production. Our design continues to work out the kinks with each new floor plan, elevation, or detail that we put together. It is somewhat of a challenge to stay on top of the continuous discoveries with 10 people all working at once and a drawing set that is constantly being added to, but that is a good challenge to have. Our design is getting closer to reality with each day, and the progress is rapid, encouraging, and exciting. We have two weeks remaining until the semester ends and when we will submit our building permit for review. We are all invested in this project as, unlike our previous studio projects, this one is for real. It is actually going to be built, our clients are actually going to use it, and the payoff is going to be incredible!
