Build Week 22: Pre-framing Inspection

The pre-framing inspection was completed this week with conditions, but gives us the go ahead to advance with the roof and put the project in good shape for our final framing inspection coming up soon.

Week of February 4 - Days 41 & 42

The week started with a pre-framing inspection which gave us good news! While we have been building, we have been working closely with our structural engineer to make changes and updates as needed - the building, as originally designed, was not really structurally engineered for panelization, so a lot of components and especially connections changed. As an agreement with the inspector, we will get our go-ahead with a letter of conformance from the structural engineer.
This pre-inspection gave us also the go ahead to move forward with our roof and to begin taping our sheathing for air-tightness. Part of our design for the roof are our metal scuppers. We built those last semester to waterfall the water off the back of the building. We also began installing fire block boards on the north and east facades to give those walls the fire rating they need for their proximity to the property line (less than 10'). Other work including nearly finishing electrical and getting the ERV and plumbing all in, including all control wires. Each week is full of progress, even when it is in cold, snow, and rain.
